I knew at a very young age that I DID NOT want to work for someone else all my life. My father was self-employed and so was his father. I started my first business at the age of 12, painting address numbers on curbs around the neighborhood. This allowed me to buy my first go-kart two weeks later which I proudly paid CASH for myself. I was hooked. After graduating college in 1996 with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, I went to work for a small corporation as an advertising account executive. I was soon reminded of my desire to be an entrepreneur. I quit that job in 1998 and learned to appraise residential real-estate. From that I grew a thriving residential real-estate valuation service that I still own and operate today. Along the way I had the privilege of being mentored by some very successful people as well as the rewarding opportunity to mentor others in their growing success. In today's uncertain economic times, one must look no further than themself for financial stability. The only difference between success and failure is the action taken.

Tweeting your way to Prosperity

By now you've probably heard about the new social network, Twitter. At first glance, it is easy to miss the point of this phenomenon. However, a closer inspection will reveal that Twitter is much different than other social media sites and the newest mecca for savvy internet marketers. As a leader or follower on Twitter.com one has 140 characters to answer one simple question, "What are you doing?" While that question might be confusing for those on the outside, suffice it to say, Twitter could accurately be described as a "micro-blog". With only 140 characters of space per "tweet," it challenges the poster to be 'short and sweet' while still effectively getting their point across to their followers. Now, for those of you who think Twitter might be just for trendy high school students, I would call your attention to Bill Gates, The New York Times, and even the President Barack Obama who all have Twitter accounts. Not to mention a slew of millionaires and company CEO's who understand that social networks are the hear and now of network marketing.

Ok, so let's get down to business. How does one go about turning a tweet into cash? Well here is a basic formula for tapping into the power of Twitter:

1) Sign up for an account at www.Twitter.com. I suggest using your first and last name if available. This will help in your branding and allow people to easily search for you.

2) Add a picture and fill out your profile. Make sure to add your web page. Ideally you want this website to be your capture page or your central hub (a blog perhaps) where you offer valuable content and hopefully guide people into your sales funnel.

3) Find people to follow. This can be accomplished by using the search feature within Twitter or using third party services such as www.twollo.com or www.twittergetter.com. These sites allow you to find people with similar interests based on keywords or phrases. Once you have begun following these people, statistics show, a majority will follow you back.

4) Begin building relationships. The biggest mistake most marketers make on Twitter is to immediately try and sell something or post a link that ultimately benefits themselves. If you subscribe to the principles of Attraction Marketing then you know that it is all about relationships and offering value to your prospects. Take some time to get to know your followers. Find out what they need. Then offer them solutions without the expectation of anything in return. If this concept of "give without want" is a bit confusing then I encourage you to check out my FREE Attraction Marketing training. See the link on the right side of this page.

5) Avoid spamming your network. Be involved in the community you've built but don't post 10 times back to back with obvious sales pitches and links to your affiliates. This will certainly turn most people off. Instead, listen to what your followers are saying in their tweets. Go out of your way to find them solutions to their problems. This will further brand you as the leader they will want to continue following and hearing from on a regular basis.

Hope this was helpful and gives a starting point to your marketing efforts on Twitter. Stay tuned for some more advanced Twitter techniques and strategies in the near future. Oh, and don't forget to follow me. I will follow you back. www.twitter.com/AnthonyMessina

Why do you want to be successful?

The "Why" is the most important part in my opinion. If you do not know EXACTLY why you want to be successful, your effort to get there will likely diminish over time. Is it to escape your family legacy of paycheck to paycheck living? Perhaps it's the desire for a luxurious lifestyle you've dreamt about? Or, maybe it's simple financial security that will afford you more quality time with loved ones? What ever the reason is, write down what it would look like in detail. Better yet, find a place in your home office or other personal space where you can display pictures and written notes to remind yourself "why" your working so hard. Display those scenes of exotic destinations, dream homes, and the important people in your life you would share your success with. Is your vision clear? Good. Now take action, and it will happen!
