I knew at a very young age that I DID NOT want to work for someone else all my life. My father was self-employed and so was his father. I started my first business at the age of 12, painting address numbers on curbs around the neighborhood. This allowed me to buy my first go-kart two weeks later which I proudly paid CASH for myself. I was hooked. After graduating college in 1996 with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, I went to work for a small corporation as an advertising account executive. I was soon reminded of my desire to be an entrepreneur. I quit that job in 1998 and learned to appraise residential real-estate. From that I grew a thriving residential real-estate valuation service that I still own and operate today. Along the way I had the privilege of being mentored by some very successful people as well as the rewarding opportunity to mentor others in their growing success. In today's uncertain economic times, one must look no further than themself for financial stability. The only difference between success and failure is the action taken.

Why do you want to be successful?

The "Why" is the most important part in my opinion. If you do not know EXACTLY why you want to be successful, your effort to get there will likely diminish over time. Is it to escape your family legacy of paycheck to paycheck living? Perhaps it's the desire for a luxurious lifestyle you've dreamt about? Or, maybe it's simple financial security that will afford you more quality time with loved ones? What ever the reason is, write down what it would look like in detail. Better yet, find a place in your home office or other personal space where you can display pictures and written notes to remind yourself "why" your working so hard. Display those scenes of exotic destinations, dream homes, and the important people in your life you would share your success with. Is your vision clear? Good. Now take action, and it will happen!
